About Alytus Regional Development Council
Alytus Region – Alytus county, which includes Municipalities of Alytus City, Alytus District, Druskininkai, Lazdijai District and Varėna District. Alytus Regional Development Council (hereinafter – the Council) was established in 2021 February 26 by all five Municipalities. The Council plans and coordinates social and economic development of Alytus Region (county territory), cooperation of county Municipalities, representing the Region.
The Council is a non-profit public legal entity with limited civil liability, which in its activities is guided by provisions of the Council, the Civil Code, the Law on Regional Development and other legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Council acts in interests of resident of the Region.
The mission of the Council is to create conditions for decent, active, safe, healthy and attractive life and work in Alytus Region.
Goals of the Council‘s activities:
- to plan and coordinate implementation of national regional policy in Alytus Region;
- to promote social and economic development of the Region, sustainable development, reduction of social and economic differences in the Region;
- to promote cooperation of Municipalities in order to increase efficiency of organization of public service provision;
- to represent the Region.
